Mrs. Chumley
Mrs. Chumley is Rufus’ mother. She is a mean, selfish woman, more interested in her fur coats, jewellery and shopping trips than she is in her son. She drinks cocktails made from gin all day long, so when she talks she often slurs her words.
So instead of saying ‘Good morning how are you?’ she might say ‘Goodgemernning. Howsh are yew?’
Except she wouldn’t ask nice questions like that – she would more likely say ‘Uuuurgh, what are you doing in the kitchen, eating breakfast?’ Which in her slur would be ‘Uuuuugh, what are yewsh doing in the kitchshen eating bweckshfast?’
She is always in high heels, and her fingers with their red fingernails are always decorated with very precious rings.
She doesn’t like children at all. And she can’t remember being one.
